Yang Zhang is currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Biomedical Engineering, Tsinghua University. Over the past decade, he has conducted research in medical imaging during his Master’s studies at Peking University (2012–2015), Ph.D. studies at The University of Hong Kong (2015–2019), and postdoctoral training at Caltech (2019–2025).
Since February 2025, he has been forming a multidisciplinary research team focused on next-generation human brain and body medical imaging technologies, integrating electronics, ultrasound, optics, and computation. His recent work covers photoacoustic imaging, ultrafast ultrasound, and multimodal imaging systems.
His research has been published in Nature Biomedical Engineering, Advanced Science, and IEEE TMI, and he has filed multiple U.S. patents. His work on photoacoustic vector tomography received the Best Paper Award at SPIE Photonics West.
